Last Update: June 29th, 2018: Commercial for Cyclone, Dragonfly, Nox Kue, nox Base and Ursa added
Star Citizen offers not only a huge variety of space ships (Check out my Ship Guide) – but also an ever increasing number of ground based vehicles and maintaining an overview is getting more difficult by the day.
Dealing with ship and vehicle trades on a daily basis and being an active player myself, its mandatory for me to stay informed and I want to share this knowledge with you. Be aware though, that while I often have new players and veterans alike come to ask me ‘what is the right vehicle for me, what should I buy?’, there is no simple good, better & best answer – rather the answer is always a personal on depending your skill level, your hardware and gear, your preference in game style, and even your aesthetic preference. Hence, what I provide you here is not a guide to what is the best vehicle for you, but a quick and easy overview on what choices are available and worth considering for the task you have in mind and by providing you all the links you can possibly need, to find more detailed information and to support your decision!
If you’re looking for a more intrinsic and personal recommendation, find me on Star-Hangar’s discord live chat, where we can gladly discuss details to help you find out what really fits you best, as well as other frequently asked aspects such as whether or not to go for vehicles with LTI (Life Time Insurance).
As a note to veterans, its a good idea to search this page before buying a ship you’re potentially interested in, as you can quickly find the links to what alternatives are worth investigating, before making your choice. Have fun and see you in the ‘verse! 🙂
If you’re new to Star Citizen, remember to check this out first:
1) Referral Program:
Before you enlist a Star Citizen Account with RSI… Star-Hangar is sponsoring new players with its own referral program. Just check the “Star Citizen Account” in the FAQ or ask staff in Discord Live Chat about it!
2) Game Package:
Note that before acquiring vehicles, you first need a game package. If you don’t have one yet, remember that you can start with any cheap pack, but you may just want to make sure it also includes the Squadron 42 single player campaign. Buying this from RSI has become expensive, but Star-Hangar has cheaper options (that included Squadron 42) available: Starter Packages
The main purpose of this guide is that if you think “hey, that’s a cool ride” then you can browse the star citizen ship list and see what alternatives we have to choose from that you might want to consider. So here’s your overview:
These are civilian ground vehicles, whose purpose is simply to get from A to B faster and more stylish than simply on foot. These kinds of vehicles are typically unarmed, though of course nothing will stop you from grabbing a gun yourself and firing it.
Core ships of this class are:
Such small vehicles make a preferable choice to pack into your space ships and for traversing crowded city space. For overland travel, you may want to check out the list of hover crafts which allows for a faster traverse of large distances.
There is no dedicated ground cargo transport vehicles available as of yet. Transportation is typical so cheap and easy using space ships that ground transports are typically not required. You may however consider to check out these vehicles:
Star Citizen is well-known for its tough and highly competitive race tracks. Think you’ve got what it takes to be the fastest? These vehicles may be of interest to you:
Travelling on the ground is fast – but flying is even faster. Do you have the nerves it takes to travel at excessive speeds a mere meter above ground? If so, these ships may be to your liking:
Doesn’t matter if you’re looking for rare ore deposits, potential tourist hot spots, alien life forms or hostile forces… these vehicles are both mobile and equipped with powerful scanning gear:
Light and mobile ground vehicles sporting fixed weapon mounts. These vehicles can quickly traverse terrain and their weaponry is well suited to keep hostile infantry in check.
Heavy Tanks built to dominate the battlefield on ground. These tanks are designed to take out other enemy vehicles, but they are typically also capable to engage enemy infantry as well as enemy spaceships that carelessly move into range.
These craft are extremely fast and well equipped with light weaponry. Their capability to also ascend into the air gives them an incredible mobility. They are however, vulnerable to ground based anti-air weaponry.
Additionally you may want to check out these whoever bikes, which are capable to support your combat operations:
These ground based vehicles are designed to intercept Air Targets.
If you need ground based air defence, you might also want to check out these vehicles:
Move your Troops quickly and safely to where they are needed.
The following vehicles are still top secret and while its known that RSI sold some to large volume investors, no details other than the vehicle name has been announced so far. Please expect updates at a later time only.
